Visit to AgroForAdapt demonstration systems with the University of Bonn / ReForest Project

On 8 August 2023 we visited the demonstrative silvoarable systems of Villoldo and Collazos de Boedo, in Palencia (central-north Spain), with representatives of CTFC,  Sorbus Bosques Multifuncionales (collaborating entity of LIFE AgroForAdapt) and the University of Bonn - project ReForest.

In Villoldo we visited the farm La Sola agroecológica, where various silvorabke combinations have been made with almond, walnut and hazelnut trees, in a farm that includes multiple agricultural and livestock productions, managed organically. Located in the heart of cereal-dominated Tierra de Campos county, this system includes the only arboreal vegetation for several kilometres around, so it is not surprising that during the visit several kestrels, kites and buzzards fly over us.

In Collazos de Boedo we visited a silvoarable system with rowan and cherry trees combined with fodder legumes. The trees are doing well, despite the drought of the last two years and the damage caused by deer.
